Purposes of Trident Roller Cushion
Support in lying position
In the supine position, the role of the Trident Roller Cushion is to separate critical parts (knees, ankles) and correct the knee position from extension and internal rotation to slight flexion and a neutral position.
This slight knee flexion prevents extensor contractures and pressure sores on the back and inner side of the knee and facilitates verticalization and walking.
Maintaining lateral position
The Trident Roller Cushion has firm, elongated outer sides and a central "horn" to make lying on your side easier and more stable. The raised sides lift the lower legs and feet off the floor without straining the user. In this position, we have placed all the areas where pressure ulcers commonly occur (heels, ankles, inner knees) in a position where there is no pressure on these specific areas.
Assistance in sitting position
In a seated position, the Trident Roller Cushion has a dual purpose:

Separate the knees with a soft and comfortable, but firm and stable middle "horn" and at the same time stabilize them with the outer sides of the cushion to prevent sagging knees from falling outwards or spastic knees from falling inwards. This prevents contractures and decubitus ulcers, but also allows for more correct and stable sitting.

The underside (bottom of the pillow) facing upwards when sitting serves as a support for the hands, which can also have an excellent rehabilitation role in exercising (straightening) spastic fingers and wrists.
